If you are under the age of 21, you can contact the state department of education for the names of public online schools. These schools offer free education just like the school down the street. If you are over 21, see if there are any local GED programs in your area. These should be free or low cost. You might also check with the local Bureau of Employment to see what they offer as far as job skills and education assistance. They might be able to offer you some help since it will make you more employable.

Taking an online class to receive your high school diploma can cost you from $275 per course to $1350 for the year - depending upon what you have to take. Also, you need to consider that your computer must be upgraded to support that school's program and requirements so that any papers or research you write can be forwarded directly to them. Additionally, your software for most of these upgrades can cost you upwards of $1000. and in some cases, you still might have to purchase books.

I was an online high school proctor (teacher) and let me tell you - it is not easy AT ALL. There are no courses online you can take for free. At least none that I know of.

Suggestion: Why don't you check with your school district and see who offers night classes or GED courses. You would fare much better going through the school system for this help, In some cases, the fees can be deferred if you are unemployed or unable to pay. One thing is for sure - you need that HS Diploma or GED badly and then some in order to get a better job.

I wish you all the best.
