Hello. I recently asked this question:

"Hi. I own a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer, and the turn signals and the hazards stopped working yesterday. I took the truck back out later in the day and they worked again. Now today, they've stopped working again. Why would this happen?"

And with the answers I got, we pretty much narrowed the problem down to a bad flasher.

I bought a new flasher today from an auto parts store and went to install it. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find where the old one is. I've looked in the fuse box and it's not in there. The manual doesn't tell me either, and I can't seem to find any information on the internet.

Thanks in advance, I appreciate the help.

It is in the power distribution box under the hood.

Refer to your owners manual for the exact location

It's usually in the dash around the steering column, often just above the column inside the dash.

i just looked in alldata and they show the flasher in harness under the dash near the steering column, remove sound panel and turn on the signals and you should hear it clicking and be able to locate it.

THE TURN AND HAZARD FLASHER WILL BE LOCATED EITHER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STEERING COLUMN OR IN THE STEERING COLUMN ITSELF.
