You can do it, but it won't be easy. Don't add any other fish either. Monitor your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels at least once a week until your tank is cycled. You probably won't be able to siphon it so you will need to stir the gravel up with your hands and then pour it out to do a water change. Just be careful not to pour out the fish too. Feed very lightly.

NOT a Gourami. Gouramis need 10 gals minimum! A Beta would be really happy with that kind of setup but for a Gourami even though they are beautiful fish just would be stunted and die. If you have your heart set on a gourami get a 10 gallon tank and keep your bubbler, rock and plant. Get a fancy Beta and you'll have a beautiful setup!

No. Dwarf Gouramis are tropical fish that are relatively active. They require temperatures of about 80 degrees, and should be housed in a tank no less than 10 gallons (in my opinion). 5 gallons would be the bare minimum. The only thing that could live in that tank would be a single Betta (a relative of the Gourami).

Nope- way too small. Gourami need 10 gallons minimum; heater, filter, light, and air rock. Now a single Betta would do great in that tank. But not a gourami.
