One year ago I received a 150cc, two seater go kart that has forward and reverse as a gift. There is NO TRANSMISSON on this go kart. Now whenever I accelerate or go uphill the engine misses or skips and acceleration is slower then when it was brand new. The oil was just changed and I suspect that it may be because the chain is too loose. The go kart has never been in an accident and has anywhere from 15 to 20 hours on it. Whoever knows something please help I would hate to find out that something is seriously wrong with the engine after all it is only one year old.

what brand engine do you have?......this information would help.......but first.....change spark plug , clean air filter , drain fuel [if possible] , add fresh ,clean, new fuel , replace fuel filter , add carburetor cleaner....no more than 1 oz. , be sure the oil level is correct...not overfull.....adjust your chain tension.......carburetor adjustment,s can be difficult to those who aren't familiar with this.....if this doesn't help....ask back with engine manufacture information.....good luck!

First if it has a forward and reverse it does have a transmission just not like the one on a car.

Its probably a problem with the carburation. Remove the spark plug. If its covered in oil then you probably have a leak or a clog somewhere in the carburation system.

carbs probabaly dirty, if you stored it for a while before playing with again, the fuel in the float bowl dried up,leaving only the additive, and some other muck, thus plugging up your jets, you can try some injector cleaner and run for a while,if that doesent work youll be cleaning a carb, but thats just my usual suspect, also check your air cleaner, thats always high on the list of suspects

It may just need a tune up. Check the air filter, spark plugs, wires, and chain tension. Did you drain the gas after last season, and put fresh gas in? It could have bad gas in it.
