Matte is the opposite to shiny, so more suitable for an oily skin.

Matte makeup keeps your face shine-free. It is pronounced (Matt), just in case you didn't know. A year ago I pronounced it (Mah-tay). Haha, did I feel stupid?

Less shiny.
Less glossy.
Similar to the nice quality matte photos you can choose over gloss.

I'm pretty sure it just means that it's not shiny. So like, the MatteMouse stuff makes your face not shiny. Which is GOOD because a shiny face is an oily/dirty face! Ew. haha.

matte just means flat color with no shine or reflectiveness to it.

(think like wall paint- flat paint doesn't shine or reflect light while glossy paint does. flat= matte)
