Can I ask why straight people are always in the Gay/Lesbian/Transgendered catagory bashing people? If you dont agree with someone's lifestyle, you dont have to--that is your own business. But, this is supposed to be a place where us gay people share advice and help each other out. We don't need your ignorant comments! Piece of advice for yah, if you don't like it --get out of our catagory!

To everyone who is supportive--thank you. This question isn't directed at you :-)

It's just that everytime you want to seek advice from someone who can relate, you have to hear negative opinions you have already heard over and over again that are irrelevant :-( Just annoying thats all.

I hate the term "straight," since that seems to imply that I need to call gays, "bent." Pretty stupid stuff to me!

I'm a heterosexual who is happily married. And that's why I'm here! I pop in here every now and again to make sure that I can play a part--however small it may be--in letting homosexuals know that not all heteros are hateful and judgmental toward them. For example, who better to stomp on a stupid remark about how gay marriage harms "traditional" marriages?

We don't need more separation. We need more unity.

I hope my presence here doesn't offend you.

I'm here to support you. i think that the LGBT community should have the same rights as straight people. i come here to learn about your lifestyle and all the hardships that you have to face when some straight people like to try to convert you to being straight. i think this whole community is brave and strong for standing up for their rights. Good luck with everything you stand for.

So you're saying ALL straight people are gay-bashers, and that only LGBT people can discuss LGBT issues? That's not fair, dear.
If you read the responses carefully, you'll notice plenty of straight people trashing the gay-bashers and defending the LGBT community - these people are your allies and friends, and you should welcome them.
And why should LGBT issues only be of concern to LGBT people? Don't you want the chance to enlighten and educate people?
Before you build a wall, dear, ask yourself if you're keeping someone else out - or locking yourself in.

p.s. Unfortunately, by saying "straight people are always..." DOES direct the comment at all straight people. You need to limit your comments to the specific attackers, not everyone who is not like you.

I don't mind the straight people being here. A lot of them are here because they want to learn, or can help when the LGBT people need a heterosexual person's perspective.

I don't even really mind the trolls, because if you take the time and answer their ridiculous questions with a serious answer, they're learning something by reading it. Even if they don't want to.

For the same reason atheists are in the Religion & Spirituality. No category is a private club for a certain group of people. If straights are rude to you, report them. But they may be in this category for the perfectly legitimate reason of wanting to know more about other lifestyles.

And yes, every category gets its share of trolls. Report them, and don't take them too seriously. If they are polite, answer them.

I have several close friends that are gay, It disgusts me the way some people treat them. I am here so I can better understand the issues my friends face.

It's the same reason why Atheists are in the Religion and Spirituality section. Not all heterosexual people are bashing homosexuals, while I do agree that is is very wrong, as I am a bisexual, there are many, many heterosexual people who look at us as people, not "things", and are out to help us. :)

The same goes for Atheists who are out to help Christians and their religious problems.
