You must be talking about Ozzfest?
Yeah, it's a jip, but even if the concert wasn't free surrounding lots would still charge $20.
I could be wrong though, but I've never seen a concert have actual parking. Instead it's just the owners of parking lots in the area jack up the cost of parking for events.

Pretty much all sporting events / large concerts cost 20$ to park close (some exceptions obviously) and those are already overpriced. 20$ isn't that big of a deal split between 3-5 people anyways.

usually venues where concerts are being held will charge some sort of fee for the use of their facility. and the charges are not the musicians fault but a means of the facility just trying to pay the bills. Have sum1 drop u off. Enjoy the concert!

that is a good way to cause a riot. I once went to an open air concert that advertised free beer...the name of the opening act. I hour later after the state police made there appearance in force the promoter(kinda looked like your avatar) made an apology to a rain of everything from rocks to bottles.

most rock concerts have to pay to use a venue, so most of that money will go to that actually. But yeah, $20 is a bit excessive

Taking advantage of the situation. Someone could make tons of money by offering shuttle service to it for on $5 per person.
That would be great to foul of the revenue for the people taking advantage of the parking lot fees.
