Her chances of getting pregnant while on her period are slim to none. She would have to ovulate very early in her cycle for that to happen, and the sperm would have to live long enough as well. Sperm will only live a few hours in the vagina unless in the right conditions which are not present during your period. Of course protection should always be used just in case.

Is it possible? Sure

It isn't very probable, however. Sperm can live for several days, and in theory up to 7 days (http://health.ivillage.com/infertility/0,,4pvn,00.html).

So if she had sex on day 2 of her cycle, the sperm could live until day 9 of her cycle.

So *if* she ovulates on day 9 of her cycle (very early), and the sperm actually did survive that long (and were still healthy enough to do anything about it), then yes, she could get pregnant.

Most people don't ovulate that early, and most sperm don't live that long. The odds would increase if she has a short monthly cycle (< 24 days)

Could she be pregnant? Yes. But it really isn't very likely

It is highly unlikely she is pregnant. The period is a sign the body is cleansing itself when a baby or fetus is NOT inplanted into the uterus... The chance is always there, though.. but the most fertile days for a woman is normally 14 days after the first day of the last period..

If she just had sex yesterday then chances are she's not pregnant. It's rare to get pregnant and still have your period. However it's possible. My mother had her period until she gave birth to me at 24.5 weeks and had no idea she was pregnant until I was born and had her period the entire time she was pregnant with my brother who is 5 now. She didn't know she was pregnant with him until she was 6 months pregnant.

There are only a few days during the menstrual cycle that you can get pregnant and it is when you are ovulating. Once your egg drops and you get your period, you cannot get pregnant.
