When we can't even keep prisoners in a Maximum Security Prison from getting drugs, how can we expect to interdict drugs anywhere? The Bush administration sent two border patrolmen to jail for more than 10 years for shooting a drug smuggler in the butt when he ran back toward Mexico. Mexico provides most of our illegal drugs, but it appears as if the pharmaceutical companies are providing most of today's killer drugs to our population. As long as the Corporations get their cut, everyone is happy.
Chuckle, I think pharmaceutical companies come up with a new drug, then invent a disease for it. Do you have "restless leg syndrom?"

The governments make sure that Afghanistan is peaceful so that the drug trade is healthy. (Heroin production is the highest it has ever been.) But neither government makes the money directly, they only help their friends (the criminals). So the money is not available for foreign aid.

You might ask why the criminals don't give a bit of their profit away in the form of food aid, but that would be a stupid question.

Still, you have made the connection that most do not, that the War on Terrorism is a way to circumvent the War on Drugs.
