Losing Chase Utley is horrible for the Phils......who do you think needs to step up in order to keep the Phils on the path for the pennant.......I think that if Pat Burrell steps up and hits like he should and if Brett Myers pitches great when he returns then they could still win a pennant.......who do you think will step up to the plate??
John Lannan deserves to be fired!!!! and then beat up!!!!

don't worry about the offense
the pitching sucks
the bullpen sucks
take care of pitching first
offense will do its thing without utley..they have enough weapons

It is obvious that losing Utley will hurt the Phillies chances of making the playoffs. As you say, Pat Burrell and Brett Myers have to step up, along with the rest of the team. The real question should be: Who will take Utley's place at second and ensure good defense as well as timely hitting? The Phillies do not have anyone on the bench or in the high minors to take over. Either trade for a 2B to use for the pennent chase (seems unlikely), or do the best they can with who they have. You never know!

this is gonna affect the phillies big time playoff run with the braves and mets recently playing good i doubt the phills have any shot without utley except if burell steps up big time which I DO NOT ! see happening lol. Also if utley comes back early i dont think hell have that much of an effect hell still feel the pain when he hits a ball. And why do you want lannan fired lOL the kid was making his major league debut give him a break ! he was nervous and had no control in that inning i know your a phillies fan but come on it was the kids 1st time pitching in the majors.

Pat Burrell, no question about it. Utley and Rowand are great protection for Howard and now one is out of service.
Burrell needs to step up and be the player we all know he can be. I'm a Braves fan but I still think Pat is an underachiever. He needs to step it up or get the royal treatment from the fans like JD Drew and Scott Rolen.
"John Lannan deserves to be fired!!!! and then beat up!!!!"
Now that comment is pretty harsh. You must be from Philly, born and raised.

Chase Utley is always getting hit with pitches. This was bound to happen.
I think guys like Wes Helms, Greg Dobbs, the 3-headed catchers & obviously Abraham Nuñez will have to step up. Pat Burrell just needs to keep doing what he has been doing of late although it would be nice to see some more power.

Chase Utley is a great player...! I was rummaging around at a yard sale last summer and found a magazine called " Baseball America ". Inside are pictures of Chase and another player. Both photos are autographed by the respective players. The magazine is 4 or 5 years old, dating back to the time when he was still in the minor leagues...

Yeah, Chase Utley is the heart and soul of that team, along with Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard. I think their pitchers just need to start pitching well.

You are right about Burrell and Myers, but someone like Nunez or Dobbs is going to need to fill some big shoes. They will need extra production from alot of positions...maybe Coste can step up like last year.
