think?

I felt kind of bad since Bud has gotten so much heat lately and shows up but then Barry doesn't! I think that was bush-league. I think Bud doesn't owe any more appearances to Barry or the Giants just for that!

I would agree with you Prasant, however Bud has HOF obligations so he could have just played the series out and got a day off tomorrow. Bud isn't going to be around this weekend. Yes, he is old but he should have trotted his tired behind out there at took his ABs.

Like I said, I love Barry. I just think since Barry had a tantrum about Bud not being there I think that was bush-league. Barry didn't roll on the ground crying but if you heard his statements in the past he was pretty upset. So like I said he should have played. So if your mom came to visit and it's routine for you to spend the weekend at the lake with a friend, what are you going to do? Are you going to keep to "routine"? Get my drift? Routine is just an excuse.

Since it's a custom for Barry since he started with the Giants, it was not a slight on Bud for him not to play. Since he's getting older, rest on specific days or special situations will occur. Anyways, since I watched Giants baseball since the 70's, I've never seen the fans and Barry haters so bent out of shape about trying to dictate what Barry, Bud or Henry should do about their lives. It's like having a nagging wife!

These people are paid to do a job, and if they need a day or week off, so be it. They're not supermen, but regular human beings like us. I'm sure Bud's feelings were not hurt one bit.

Bonds is 43 and he is not able to play every day and Bud knows that Barry will not be playing every. Everyone could tell that after playing a 13 inning night game Barry was not going to play the next day, so I don't see why Bud should be mad at him. Selig tried so hard to wash his hands of the whole Bonds issue and if Barry can't play who should feel sorry for Selig.

As for Bud not being there this is THE RECORD, baseball is built on stats and the all time home run record is the most important stat in the major leauge baseball, so for Bud being the mlb commissioner he just has to be there.

This is awesome because now the Bonds haters have something else to cling too and hate Barry for.

Anyone who has watched a Giants game over the past 7 years already knew that Barry wasnt going to play. He doesnt play afternoon games the day after a night game, let alone a game that goes 13 innings. It's not a big mystery nor does it somehow represent Barry turning his back on the comissioner, it's just common practice...he doesnt play day games after night games.

He most certainly did. Many people feel Bud Selig doesn't have to attend any of Barry's games because of all the controversy surrounding him. I feel Selig made the right decision to finally attend Bond's games. How much is Bonds getting paid? He needs to be in that lineup everyday! What about the guys who earn less than a million dollars, but are doing whatever it takes to play everyday at the major league level? They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but Bonds has to learn sometimes to make sacrifices for others, and stop thinking about himself!

With the way Selig has tried to wash his hands of Bonds, I don't feel he owes him anything. Whether you believe he took steroids or not, he hasn't tested positive for them and everybody's acting like he's the worst man in the history of baseball. Guys have gotten caught with corked bats, pitchers have gotten caught doctoring baseballs, and lots of other guys have already tested positive, but Barry's the devil? All of this whole steroids investigation has been nothing but a witch hunt to try to get Bonds. Where were all these purists when Sosa went from hitting 35-40 homers a year to averaging 60 a year over a 4-year span?

Bonds is on a set plan as to when he will play and when he will sit. Bonds is not going to be in the lineup every day Selig is at the ballpark until he brakes the record. He is playing on bad knees and needs the time off on a regular basis or he won't be able to play at all.

Bonds has taken liberal amounts of time off for the past several years (ignoring 2005), and Seligula has to know this.

And so what? He's commissioner; watching games is a real part of his job (probably the best part). Whether or not Bonds is in the lineup makes no difference.

it was the giants, bud who actually made all this planned that barry cannot play night games if he played day game the day before so i'm sure it's not a big deal.

Well, I grew up around the bay area. Never liked the Giants, (always A's fan), never liked bonds at all, BUT, he does not have to play if a nagging injury occurs. Plain and Simple. :)
