Mylicon is for gas, not for constipation. The best thing for constipated baby is apple juice or something like that.

Ask your baby's pediatrician is apple juice or some type of juice is okay to feed her at this time in her life. Also, how do you know she's constipated? Ask your baby's Ped how often she should be going, but really apple juice is a good thing for baby's bowels to be loose.

You changed her formula HOW often? No wonder she's got pooping issues. Okay. Here's the deal: Pick ONE formula and stay with it for a while. DO NOT change it without speaking to her doctor. You do not want to confuse her system any more than it already is!

Constipation is defined as straining to go and not being able to pass a BM, or passing one that's tiny pebbles. Some babies only go once every couple of days. Some go at every feeding. This is subject to change several times over the next year to year and a half. This is 100% normal. There is no need to panic. If constipation becomes a chronic issue, discuss treatments with her doctor. Do not take it upon yourself to try to treat her otherwise. (with juice or Karo syrup or anything else) You could end up with a baby with nonstop diarrhea.

If your baby is gassy, you can use mylicon, give one dropperfull UP TO three times a day with feedings. This means, give the dropperful right before the bottle. Do not mix it into the bottle. Do not give half before and half after. This does not make it more effective, it makes it less effective.

It works perfectly fine for my 3 week old daughter. It must just be the formula your daughter is on my daughter uses the Mylicon Drops and formula is Similac Alimentum the doctor put her on that at 2 days old and it is helping her keep the formula down. As for the constipation I dont know why.

If your daughter is having a bowel movement every 24-30 hours why are you worried?? This is normal. You should stop changing her formula unless directed by her doctor!!! If you do need to make a change you need to give it time to take affect and since you daughter is only 3 weeks old and you have changed it 3 times, you are not giving it time. You should always check with the child's doctor before making any formula changes. Pooping every day is totally normal.

She isn't constipated at all...and stick with the similac low iron. As long as she is going once per day- she is fine.

Is the stool hard or soft?
Is she straining to go or just a slight push?

mylicon is gentle enough to use at every feeding, i use it for my baby and it really helps with gas/colic. but i am not too sure if it works for constipation. when my baby was constipated the dr told me to give her an ounce of diluted prune juice, but that was when she hadn't pooped for 4 days.

She's NOT constipated.

1 time in 24-30 hours is FINE--it's NORMAL. Don't mess around with her :)

Constipation doesn't mean how often she goes, it means what the poop is like when it does come out. Is it still liquidy and soft when she does go? Then she's not constipated. If her poop is hard, like pellets or adult poop, then she really is constipated.

Mylicon helps with gas, not with constipation. It's harmless, but won't help keep her regular.
