My husband is a Marine currently serving his third tour of duty in Iraq. My friends' boyfriend attends college in our town, but his parents live 200 miles away. He just left to visit his parents for a month before the Fall semester begins. Now my friend calls me constantly crying because she misses him. She says "people don't know what it's like to be in our boat" and "Oh I don't know if I'll ever see him again." My husband is gone months at a time in a war torn country and she thinks she's in the same boat as me. Her boyfriend is sipping margarita's on the porch while my husband is under constant threat of death. When my hubby's gone I try to keep myself busy to make the time go by faster and to not worry about him so much. With her need for constant attention, it's making the time drag by so slowly. What can I say to make her understand that I don't need this added stress?

I would advise you to tell her in a nice way to just kind of stop adding to your stress and that you already have enough stress. Explain to her what you are going through right now and tell her to calm down. Try to assure her that her boyfriend will be back before she knows it if she just tries to not think about him too much and make time pass quicker.

Sit down with her and gently and kindly tell her that just about everyone has to go through this at one time in their lives. Tell her to get ahold of herself. To join an exercise club and work some of that fear our of herself. OR buy a couple of the new dance/boxing in place DVD's and work out with them. OR volunteer at the Food Bank.

poor u, poor her. let her know in a kind friendly way that her bickering is getting on your nerves. or just tell her to shut the F*** up since you are a cold hearted B**** and can only think about your self.
