Tough call betwen Roy Batty from "Blade Runner"--ultimate robot killing machine who could kick the Terminator's backside--and Hans Gruber from "Die Hard"--not just stereotypical Eurotrash.

Overall I'll go with Hans Gruber. He's so smooth and calculating, can kill without a monologue and without warning, and actually has everything perfectly plotted out. But also fun to watch John McClane slowly make Gruber lose his cool and turn him into just an ordinary thief. Bonus points for having a cool death and for being so perfectly played by Alan Rickman.

For me it has to be Darth Vader. He symbolised the perfect villian. Actually scary, different and respectable in his own right. He wasnt like a normal villian but a special one as can be seen by his suit. Becuase his identity was hidden it made him seem even more scary. He was an amazing, respectable villian.
