~Why, are you one of the morons who leaves yours in the middle of the parking lot so it will roll or get pushed into my car? I see from the answers here why I get so many scratches and dents.

I put mine away because once there was a case on "The People's Court" a kid left a shopping cart in a space and later it rolled into someone's car. It was ruled to be the kid's fault because the store that the parking lot belonged to had specific areas to leave your carts - those cart corral things - so since there was a proper place to put the cart and since the kid didn't use it, he was liable for the damage to the other person's car.

If the store had no place to put the carts and no signs saying "please return the cart to the store" I think the judge said in that case the person with the car damage could sue the store but not the kid as the kid would not have known where to put the cart.

So yeah, I put my carts away not out of niceness but out of fear :)

I take the few seconds of putting it away. Just as I hate it when some idiot leave his/her cart in a space--waiting for the wond to make it plow into another car, I try to prevent this from happening to others. Besides, usually by doing so, you will never have anyone complain--not even the person who gets paid to round up all the carts!!

Hope this helps.

Well if the weather is nice I usually put in back in the cart thingy.. However if its cold or raining depending on how far away from the cart thingy I am... I might just leave it. Although now that I'm pregnant I've been just leaving it. Sorry cart puter away people!

I put it away - because 99% of places charge a 25¢ (or even $1.00!!) deposit on the cart...

That, and since I don't drive - there's no need to take the cart out into the parking lot in the first place ;););)

Most of the time I am a good girl & I put it away. I try to park near a cart storage bin so I am not tempted to just leave it in the parking lot.

Sometimes I leave it wherever but I feel guilty. Depends on how far from the cart return I am.

Putting the cart away is the Christian thing to do. So I put it away. If it's out there when I get there, I take it in.

After my car was struck by a wayward cart I got into the habit of putting them away. Getting hit put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day and I don't want to be the cause of somebody's bad day.

The question should be is the shopping cart corral ever close enough to where you are with the cart?
I put it away if I was lucky enough to find a parking space close to one.

It depends upon how frustrated I am. Most of the time I try to put them in the cart places, but I have just left them on occasion. That's on a bad day.
