I remeber when I was 5, at this age I thought human beings were immortal. One day I watched somebody on TV die, then I ran to my dad and said " Why doesn't he just get up'?. He said because he's dead, and he said someday we will all die. I bawled my eye out after that.

That must've been a traumatic experience for you.

I had a similar one, at age 7. My dog was ran over. I said to my dad when he saw the dog "did he roll in paint or something"? and my dad didn't answer. I ask again and he goes "he's not getting up son, he's dead" and I was like "....huh?" and he goes "when you die, you never come back" and I broke out in hysterical crying for days on end.

I was almost 6 and we were playing near a flooded ditch. There were my 2 older brothers who were 8 and 10 and this other guy, Darryl...he was 10. He took a tire from his dad's shop in the back of his house and we were all rolling it. He rolled it really hard and it went in the ditch. He said, "My dad will kill me!" He ran to the ditch and tried to reach the tire. My brothers were running to him when he slipped and went in. They ran to get our parents and I reached for him. He came to the surface and reached for me, but he probably knew that I couldn't help... I was too little. He just went under and I stood there screaming. They found him 3 days later after the waters went down...about 3 miles away. I'll never forget his face or how my mom tried to tell me what had happened. She kept saying "God's Will" and I just couldn't understand why God would want to drown Darryl. I still have problems with that concept today and I'm 43.

The first time i remember someone dying was when i was very little, don`t remember how old.
My siblings and i were in the Living room and my mom was on the phone talking and very upset.
Then she came in and said that her mother (our grandma) had died. I wasn`t quite sure what that meant exactly, but the fact that she was so distraught over it, made me sad.

Strange that you asked that question I was going to post a similar question. I was alone about 7 and I started questioning the meaning of life, how we got here.... I was terrified. Yes, my parents left me alone at 7, unheard of now.

I have looked at death as a part of life. It will come and life will still go on. How long will we be remembered is up to us.
