Is it just me or do the timelines in this game not make any sense?
According to the game and previous games, there has been 1 zelda but many links, and this is over the course of a couple of hundred years.
Now how could it be possible that zelda is still alive and kicking and in fact youthful, when several links have gone and passed?
Someone please explain this to me, cos I couldnt be more confused

Well, for your first question, the games aren't in chronological order and to further complicate it, there seems to be two alternate universes that split somewhere along the line. So twilight princess and wind waker take place in alternate timelines. to answer the second and third question, there have been different zelda and Link reincarnations for every game. What makes it confusing is that Zelda is almost always the princess in Hyrule Castle while Link always starts off in a different way. Despite all this, there is only one Ganondorf who continually ressurects himself with his Triforce of Power.

The Zeldas are all individuals.
You see, every single princess born into the royal family is named Zelda. So every time you see a Zelda in a game, it's a different one.
The Links, meanwhile, aren't related. They're just reincarnations of each other.

I Don't know, but I wish I had a Wii, just for this game. I LOVE the link and Zelda games, they are the best games I have ever played.

Well to be honest there is a different zelda in every chapter, (for example in windwaker shes a pirate) and link is link....if you extend an original story too much then it gets dull. thats why there are alternate stories relating to link.
PS: there is a chosen in every generation... that wear the green suit remeber?

It's possible that every generation of girl is born, they will name her Zelda and since they all share the same bloodline, they share the same memories of past life. :)
