Cody for a boy deffinatley! I would say an alternative or a girl is Cady. It is a real name...

Cady/Cadee - American - The meaning is Pure :)

Cody's a cute name for either a boy or a girl (it's a bit of a cowboy name - and I rode a buckskin horse as a teenager called Cody!) but it may not age well if your child becomes an investment banker or a news anchor.

But don't despair! A little creativity can help both short term and long. Naming your child with the initials C D (example: Christopher David Thompson) means you can nickname him (or her) Cody for as long as you want but he can always switch to his given name for high school or university or at any point during his career. Using Cody with a more conventional middle name can work as well (I'll use Christopher again) - he can always become C. Christopher Thompson (or Dr. C. Christopher Thompson) legally and people could call him Christopher (except for his family, who will call him Cody until the day they die!) The reverse is also true - call him Christopher Cody Thompson and the family can still call him Cody.

Give your child options, especially when going for an unusual or trendy name. Always think of the 6 foot 2 adult currently trapped in a seven pound body!

Best of luck

Oh my God!!!!!!

I love that name, it's what my husband and I are thinking of calling our baby if it's a boy!

I have always loved the name and when I was a little girl, all the stories I used to write would have a boy called Cody as the main character! Even in my GCSE English I named the man in it Cody!

We also like Daniel James or Joshua Dean (James being my brothers name and Dean being hubbys name).

I wouldn't know what to have as a middle name for Cody, maybe Cody James or Cody Reece.

If you love the name too then I would say go for it!!

For a girls name you could spell it Kody, thats cute!
We love Ruby Elise and Ella Louise (Louise being my middle name!).

Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy, and for whatever name you choose.

Wasn't there a kids film called 'Angent Cody Banks?' about a BOY! Quite a cute name for a child - not sure about when he grows up though?

I like Cody for a boy and Kody for a girl, the latter seems more feminine.

I like it for either! Every boy Cody I've ever known has been a hottie! Perhaps if you use if for a girls name you could go with Kode, or Kodee.
