Physical appearances are our first indication of whether or not the person is someone we would want as a friend. For example, if I see the avatar of someone named "killer" and that person is wearing weird clothing, I probably wouldn't take his advice seriously. To avoid that, I don't look at the avatar until after I've answered the question. "Killer" might be seriously asking for information.

I think many people assume you are a certain way by the way your avatar looks but not everyone....I don't even pay attention to people's avatars....hell, half of the time i don't even know if it was a boy or girl who asked a question....

Sometimes the avatars reflect, but I suppose it all depends on the thoughts that are put into words...I pay more attention to the words.
