Previous post is correct. Unless it has been deemed a preserve by some environmental action, there is no way to stop it from being developed.

AND even if it is considered "sensitive wetlands", the developer can mitigate the wetlands to another location and develop the ones behind you. It happens in my part of Florida ALL THE TIME.

You can, however, ask the grove owner what his intentions are for the near term.

Alos, if it's in Florida, every county must have a 10 year(?)Comprehensive Plan. You can call the county commissioner's office to see if there are any plans to develop roads, schools, etc in your area.

Unless there is a conservation easement on the property, an endangered species habitat, or a brownfield (not a good thing), there is no guarantee that it will remain as a preserve, unless you buy it and keep it that way. However, even if you do decide to acquire the land, it could be subject to eminent domain or some public action that grabs the land for a new school building, post office, freeway, airport, or other municipal facility.

The only way you can control the usage of that land is to buy it and maintain ownership yourself. Beyond that, there are no guarantees.
