they are both about the same year and i have all the computers and wireing harness's from both cars

Just swap motors and use the same tranny unless both are shot.

I swaped a 1985, 305 with a 1976, 454 and everything ran just fine. I used the 1985 sensors and all the other stuff fit OK, I just had to extend the wire harness to the alternator and the vacuum hoses and the enegine computer was none the wiser. Ran like a scalded ape.

Engine room wouldn't be a factor. The engine going in is smaller.yes it is possible, but it's more difficult than a same size switch.

i think the 3.1 was based on the 2.8 so yes... but many components like sensors may be different

welll engine room is a problem plus you would need to change your ecm(computer)
