I would want to go first. I have a hard time dealing with the loss of loved ones.

Well since I have been widowed for a little over a year now and dealing with everything that goes along with the death of a spouse and having to take care of our 7 year old I think that it was better that he passed first because he was not strong enough to handle everything that I have gone through and still going through. My biggest response is whoever goes first please have a will because things are twice as hard without one.

My husband and I both hope the other dies first, cause neither of us want the other to have to go through the pain of losing a spouse. So whoever dies first, we'll both be happy (cause the one alive got their wish, and the one dead is...well, dead!:)

We didn't get to grow old together but we did love each other and it was his fondest wish that he would go before me. God does listen.
And despite the pain, anguish and loss, you do live through it.
The only thing I have asked if that none of my children pass before me.

The only rational response to the issue of death and dying is to make sure you have planned ahead. Draw up a will, and put your wishes for disposal of your corpse known in writing. I surely would not want to have to endure my wife's death, but none of us has a crystal ball - so we take life as it comes.

That's hard because I would want to go first to avoid the pain of losing him but my dh gets depressed easily and we have a large family so I wouldn't want him to have to be a single dad. I think it would overwhelm him.

My husband and I have decided he goes first (like we have control over it). He always says wouldn't know what to do for or with himself without me. And ditto on the funeral thing.

I would want my husband to die first, so I would still be here for our son.
