If you don't want to read the rest of my rant, just read this: 9 of the 10 states that get the most federal dollars that pay the least are "Red" states. 8 of the 10 states that pay the least but receive the most are "Blue" states. So its not your money, its my money. So what was that about self-reliance?
But anyway...
That's way off balance. (Almost as off balance as people over 30 having "no brain" if they're liberal.)
Check your recent history. Neo-Conservative, George W. Bush (everyone's favorite man) has increased the Presidency and the Executive branch to proportions that no one thought was possible. He withholds things from Congress, fires people who disagree with him, force people to take blame and step down, and completely IGNORES the message the American people sent to him in the 2006 midterm election. Furthermore, Cheney has done nothing but concealed everything, and then has the audacity to say he's not part of the executive branch. Apparently he never read the Constitution.
Oh, right. Its "just a piece of paper."
Liberals believe that there are injustices in society, and do their best to help INNOCENT, HARD-WORKING, citizens from the hardships of every day life. See the organizations created by FDR during the depression. The Civil Rights Acts under Johnson. Liberals love their constituency. I'd go to argue that conservatives love the rich members of their constituency. (That's why they really want you to "keep your money." But have you noticed that they only ever cut taxes for the upper 10th bracket?
And conservatives don't trust their people as much as you say. The Patriot Act did nothing but spy on every single American. Ever heard of the Information Awareness Office?

Understand that its the rightwing fruitcakes who want your guns.....the neocons want your guns not the libs!!! lets get that straight from the get go. As for setting parameters like left and rightwing this or that?? forget it. The world is not that cut and dried, neither is politics or political opinions.
Remember also that the centrist groups are not fixed. There is no dead centre between left or right, the center moves it, changes but two things will always remain constant.
The right are the warmongers...the left are not.
Cons are all about big business, money and lies...they are all about big money and paying less taxes than those who actually earn way less....frinstance did you know that corporations only pay taxes on what they have left AFTER theyve paid their million dollar CEO salaries, family health benefits, overseas AGMs and overseas trips to visit their chiropractors in Switzerland etc while the left (working and middle class) work two jobs to make ends meet, but the more they earn the more theyre taxed!!!........youd be surprised at how many people arent even aware of those basic facts.
The left are all about free speech, saving the planet, saving the freaking whales, trade unions and retaining their rights under the constitution. The cons are all about stripping away the constitution, using tax payer dollars to fund wars, and bring about a police state so they can build their new world order. Buy a clue will ya.

These are not things you've noticed, these are things you've decided. There's a big difference.
Conservatives believe that everyone has what they deserve, so if you have a lot, you should get to keep all of it, and if you don't have anything, that's your own fault so you shouldn't expect anybody to help you.
Liberals believe that everyone should have the same opportunities. If you choose not to pursue the opportunities you have, too bad for you. But if you honestly need help, then the right thing for a decent society is to help you. Only the most extreme expect government to solve everyone's problems, but there is no reason not to expect government to work for the benefit of those governed. Warning labels are not due to liberals, they are due to corporations wanting to protect themselves while also preventing harm to their consumers. Nobody has ever tried to ban gun ownership, so please stop that argument. And what laws can you name that actually protect criminals more than law-abiding citizens? I can tell you now: None.
In the future, don't say you've noticed things that aren't really there. You might get taken in for observation.

That is not the difference. The difference is that conservatives believe that poor people have too much money, and that rich people do not have enough. Liberals believe the opposite.
And conservatives and liberals both believe in big government. They just have slightly different spending priorities. Conservatives favor government subsidies to farmers and big business, and higher military spending. Liberals favor higher spending on education, medical care, and housing.
And conservatives and liberals both believe in government interfering with peoples' lives. But conservatives want to tell you who you can marry, and what you can watch on tv, and whether you can have an abortion, and they want government to have the freedom to spy on people and torture them without much interference. Liberals want you to have more freedom from government intrusion into your personal life, and they want to enforce people's constitutional rights, but they might want to restrict your ability to pollute the air and water, or sell unsafe products, and they might want to prevent you from buying a gun if you have a criminal record.

that's a sugar coated answer. conservatives(social) also believe that their personal morality should be forced on other people through law. the rest of what you said is true about conservatives.
your liberal comments were correct as far as the politicians go. i think most people who consider themselves "liberal" are simply confused about what they believe and they take the stances they do because its the cool thing to do.

Modern liberals support socialism and big government. They think taxes create prosperity and business creates poverty.
Liberals think the NRA and gun owners are potential criminals who should be disarmed.
Sadly, conservatives today are turning into socialists, but at least they haven't got to the point where they think Americans should be disarmed.

you are way off base, but nice of you to post opinion you took from others and call that rhetorical blather your own. After reading that I doubt you are capable of understanding any answer but those that mimic your espoused philosophy.
Quotes by famious liberals,
All men having power ought to be mistrusted.
James Madison
It is a universal truth that the loss of liberty at home is to be charged to the provisions against danger, real or pretended, from abroad.
James Madison
In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution T. Jefferson
