My friends are trying to plan a camping trip this august but most of the campsites are filled, is there any place that is nice and not too far away from LA? please help! thanks

I asked a similar question in the LA category and someone provided me this link to a lake and campground up near Santa Barbara. Looks pretty nice and I might go camping there too.

Pyramid lake and Castaic lake come to mind. They are both about 45 minutes north of LA on HWY 5.
You could also try lake Perris, in San Bernardino, but that would be a longer drive.

Lake Perris has a big campground and nice lake. Good fishing too. 215 fwy at Romana expressway. 1 hour from downtown L.A.
