what the difference between ur mucus plug and normal discharge?
i seem 2 get alot more discharge recently that bad am wearing a towel and the colour it a bit more darker and al be 37weeks on monday

I never noticed losing my mucous plug.

with a 1st pregnancy u can lose ur mucus plug, up to 2 weeks before you go into Labour, with subsequent pregnancies u dont usually lose ur plug until u go into labour.
The mucus plug sometimes falls away in a sort of lump and it contains blood and mucus so its quite easy to tell it from normal dischage.
I am 37 weeks myself with 3 rd child and my discharge has started to get slightly heavier, its nothing to worry about.
Sometimes when u lose ur plug though it can happen slowly over a week, if your worried at all contact ur midwife.

I never noticed the passage of a mucous plug when I had my daughter. Just a bloody show (thin blood in the toilet) the morning I went into labor.

I didn't see anything like a mucous plug at all, though the last few weeks of my pregnancy I did have a higher amount of discharge than usual.

My mucus plug fell out on the 9th, and my due date was the 22nd, so what is that 13 days? My son was born on the 13th, but he was emergency c-section. I probably would've gone until the 20th, otherwise.
You'll know the difference: it's an incredibly ugly, greasy mess that will take forever to come out--BUT, it's the most exciting thing, because you know your baby is on its way.

You will know! It has a pink coloring to it and its thick and nasty looking. I lost mine an hour before I had my daughter right after my water broke. Which is also when my contractions went crazy and I began active labor.

It usually releases itself right before contractions become harder..... It may sound gross but it looks like a dime/nickel size piece of clear slim.....
