PSS. I will add some detail about my disability. CF mainly effects your lungs. I can leave the house and be fairly active, but not for long periods of time. I enjoy working with my hands. When I was very young I loved to put things together or tinker with lego's. I have considered working with models, or perhaps getting back into the RC-Car game for which I once used to be into. I hope this helps.

It's hard to offer information on a hobby without knowing more about the things you already like to do, or may even be interested in, also about your disability and what it may or may not limit you to do. Can you leave your home? How often? Do you need assistance? Etc. ... Not to pry, and be insensitive. Please forgive, I wasn't trying to offend.

Many people find the following things interesting outside of computers ....
photography, board games, video games, card games, bird watching, collecting almost anything from cards of any kind (baseball, hockey, Harry Potter, Pokemon, etc.), stamps, coins, PEZ dispensers, Indian artifacts, celestial designs, paraphernalia from a band or actor/actress. There is also reading, many people involve themselves in literature, and not only to pass the time, to also to learn about certain subjects. There are even colleges that do on-line and interactive learning. You could learn about the art of movie making or study ancient artifacts, or even the rise of religious cults, for examples. I'm just throwing out ideas. Like I said, it's difficult without any information on someone. I wish you the best in finding something to help occupy your time.

You don't mention if you have some special abilities. For example, working with ceramics it's wonderful and easy to learn. Ceramic takes lots of details, carving, sanding, painting, and you can make gifts for your loved ones. Carving wood is also great, it also needs sanding and painting. Or maybe you can work with balsa wood and create Christmas ornaments (just an example). I also love beading, like those of the Native Americans. All those are hobbies that you can learn from books you can find at a public library or maybe buying them at a craft store.

What I do is I'm always working in different things at the same time, so I don't get bored on just one. Besides, when you are working with one, you can develop ideas for the next one in the meantime.

Check the internet, there are websites that can give you plenty of ideas.

Good luck!

I highly recommend knitting! A lot of men are taking it up these days...(see books like "Knitting With Balls"...)and it's a great hobby. So easy to start and really satisfying because you create something you can probably actually use. Hope you find something to do!

p.s. I work in libraries so I have to put in a plug for books. Nothing earth-shattering there, but maybe you haven't been reading as much as you could be???

i like to work with leather in my spare time. You can make great personalized gifts for people and your self of course.
I have a local Tandy leather shop that gives lessons. I don't know were you live but I'm sure you could find a website that sells all the materials and tools you kneed to get going. they have books galore on making just about anything you could think of and a few you couldn't
check out the Tandy web site and see if your interested
good luck

If I might ask your disabilities it would help give you better advise. I am the mother of a handicapped son of 25 years. I have him beading, drawing what he can. He also plays his vedio and computer games.

If you have good use of your hands, I might suggest quilting, models, finer bead work, scrapboooking, photography, stamp collecting or maybe even counted cross stitch. (even the big football players like to cross stitch and quilt!)

You might also try volunteering at a school reading to the children, or helping out in the classroom in some other way.

If you would like a pen pal let me know and I can put you in touch with my son.

painting and drawing is fun. if you dont have a talent for drawing,(like me:)) then try clay sculptrues. here is a recipie for some basic modeling clay.

1/2 cup potato starch or corn starch

1 cup salt

1 cup boiling water

boil the mixture until it is simaler to a soft ball. then knead on waxed paper and model the clay into whatever you want. when it dries, you can paint it.

or collect something. i collect stamps. it is really a lot of fun. or, buy a puppy or a kitten and then raise it. i wish you the best of luk with you new hobbie, whatever you choose.

Well, my newest addiction is a PC game I've been playing a lot lately: Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, it's a FREE full game by id Software. which is a multiplayer Axis vs. Allies style game, it's a VERY popular online game! I enjoy the team based gameplay...

go to download.com and search for it! It's 250ish Megabytes.
