i had asked yahoo before about problems w /this vehicle,Boy was I surprised at the response.My family say i should keep the car because it has an excellent body but the motor is shot and running on two cylinders.My mechanic says he can get me a new engine for $ 3200.00 but I feel like i can get a better deal by buying another car.Help need some advice.

dump it. The rest of the car is 11 years old...more stuff to break.

I had a 95 disco'-so take my word as the gospel. Unfortunately if you can get a second hand engine out of a wrecked one is your only bet. Your mechanic actually got you a deal. The cheapest I have seen a new 4.0 is 3995 from atlantic british (plus labor) :(. Land rover have horrible resale and because of this this buy one cheap not knowing the parts are outrageous. An alternator is 400, for any other car it would be 100 dollars. I would either trade it in or part it out or sell it to an sucker. Disregard how the body and interior look. Land rovers outer metal is alloy so it doesn't rust-so it will always look great, unfortunately the same can't be said of the drivetrain. Good luck-remember to choose a best answer

It is most likely time to trade. You got 11 year out of it, so that's not so bad.

Take a look at the LR-3's. They are a lot better than the Discovery. What the heck, look at a Range Rover.

sell it for what you can get . Then buy a F-350 .

IS THAT DISCOVERY AS IN LAND ROVER..... OH CRAP DUMP IT AND BUY A REAL CAR. NOT EUROPEAN.
