Could it be that just as everything we know is made up of atoms, that the nucleus of an atom, could be made up of even tinier particles which are to it, as atoms are to us?
And so ad infinitum.

Could protons and neutrons be constructed of things as small to them, as atoms are to us?

Ian Serpent 91 that was confirmed on BBC4 programme tonight.
I am wondering if the smallest things we know are made up of even smaller things.

floodti I was thinking of every smallest particle being made up of particles as small to them as atoms are to us, but it could include life forms at every level, and our universe could just be a fraction of a proton in a bigger world.

well... yeap... the nucleus is made up of smaller particles...
The Neutrons and Protons...
These Neutrons and Protons are made up of Quarks... even smaller particles... the bonding force between the protons and neutrons is due to these quarks...
There maybe even smaller particles ;) who knows!!

The three basic particles that make up all matter are the proton which has a positive charge, the neutron which has no charge and the electron which has a negative charge. The hydrogen 2 atom has one of each. The proton and the neutron make up the nucleus of the atom, they are held together by the strong force, the electron buzzes around at a relatively great distance from the nucleus.

Atoms are made of protons, neutrons, and electrons. The protons and neutrons make up the center of the atom while to electrons orbit around the neucleus (center of atom).

It is impossible to know what an atom looks like because it makes up our physical world. We know they have mass and volume. Although, Einstein showed that mass is actually length at the quantum level.

You will find more Truth from the Bible than you will ever find from looking at the world around you.

I heard that atoms are 99.99% space and if you took all the space out of a human he would be the size of a grain of salt. Don't know if that's true or not. I'd be happy for someone to correct me if I'm wrong.

You can not define a construction of a atom,.
Only in maths,.
atoms will not give up all of its secrets, to human understanding.
