It depends on the question/situation.
I deny that I've spent $100 in a day. Can be proved.
I deny I have a drinking problem. Possible denial of habits that could be (or maybe not) proved.
Proved doesn't look right to me - but I used spell check. Anyay, maybe I'm in denial about my spelling skills.

When someone denies something ,they are saying they did not do it. If they continually do something and lie about it to themselves or others that could be construed as being in "denial".

I strongly deny that denying something means they are in denial.

Not necessarily, it depends on the situation. People deny a lot of things for different reasons.
