1) Seal the border to the point where illegal inflow is down to a crawl.
2) Fine employers so that those who hire illegals pay hefty amounts….like $20,000 for each illegal found working for you.
3) More raids on large employers suspected or possibly hiring illegals
4) Force employers do more due diligence to ascertain legality of employees, such as checking with a database to make sure the social security # is a real approved social security #.
5) Force social security and IRS to compare social security numbers of workers to make sure that only good social security numbers are working and paying payroll taxes, and refer bad social security numbers found to be working to the immigration for raids, and employer crack down.
6) Pass law requiring that to be a citizen when born in USA your mother must be a legal resident at time of your birth

7) The current illegals would have to leave the country to reapply for entry…and get in the back of the line like law abiding people.
8) Illegals who have current American children would have to take them with. If they leave them, they would become wards of the state permanently.
9) No guest worker program...not even for farming. Let the market and supply and demand and technological advances determine the farming question.

NO...TECHNOLOGY HAS NOT ADVANCED CAUSE THE SLAVE LABOR IS AVAILABLE AND THERE IS NO INCENTIVE. HISTORY HAS SHOWN THAT WHEN THE FLOW OF SLAVES WAS CUT OFF TECHNOLOGY IMPROVED.

FREE MARKET IS TO LET THE FARMERS RECRUIT EMPLOYERS BY PAYING AMERICANS ENOUGH THEM ENOUGH TO ATTRACT THEM. THAT IS FREE MARKET. YOU CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS...TO BE A FREE MARKET PROPONENT BUT SUPPORT INTERFERENCE WITH FREE MARKET TO DETRIMENT OF LABOR IN THE USA.

we can't, we can't we can't. Its too expensive, we can't afford, lol.

Ningiss is right, this country is going down the tubes with we cantters like some of you, including the cora guy right above me. We can spend 600 billion dollars in Iraq, we can give Israel 14 million dollars a day, we can send rockets to Mars. Seems to me we can do an awful lot in this country, if we want to. Right is right, an illegal alien is a law breaker and does not belong here. If they have children here or been living here 5 years, it don't matter, they all need to be rounded up and sent back, and good honnest law abiding immigrants allowed in.

It's pie-in-the-sky wishful thinking. If machines could do the work that illegals do in agriculture and be cost-effective, they would have been used already. Employers will never stop searching for cheap labour; fines such as you propose will end up being a cost of doing business and will be passed on to the consumer. If consumers were to start paying prices that are higher due your crack-downs, I suspect that a lot of people would start welcoming illegal immigrants. Americans care about the almighty dollar and the bottom line more than anything else. Having a guest-worker program is one of the few semi-reasonable ways of dealing with illegal immigration (although it has had its problems in Europe) and you rule it out categorically.

The idea of forcing an employer to become a detective in hiring new workers to determine whether they're legal or not is laughable--no employer will stand for it and employers have more clout, politically speaking, than the teenagers who post solutions to all the world's problems on Yahoo Answers. Your proposals smack of the racism that infects this particular part of Yahoo Answers.

The first thing that is wrong with your program is that it is impossible to "seal" the border. To do that you would have to close all of the airports, roads and ports, and you would have to ban all tourists from entering this country. Did you know that about half of all illegal immigrants get here by simply overstaying a valid tourist visa?

The second thing that is wrong with your program is that no employer wants to be required to comply with the burdensome requirements you are suggesting to verify a person's immigration status. Since employers are responsible for creating all jobs that exist in this country, and since employers therefore have a lot of political power, these kinds of requirements are not likely to be put into effect.

The third thing that is wrong with your program is that if it were successful, the price of everything produced in this country would go up, since the supply of labor would go down, thus necessarily causing the price of labor to go up. Then goods made in America would become even less competitive in price than they are now, and jobs would have to flow overseas at an even faster rate than they are going now. Remember that low wage workers do not have to come to this country to take your job. Oftentimes, they can do your job right where they are. Have you noticed that most of the things that you buy are made in China? Have you noticed that when you need help with your computer or your travel reservation, that you may be speaking to a customer rep. in India? In many ways we are better off if the low wage worker comes to the US, because then he will spend a lot of his wages here.

And all this without even considering whether your suggestions are humane or ethical or constitutional.

The problem is you don't know the facts about illegal immigrants. Not a majority but some do pay taxes especially through payroll, that is one of the methods used to crack down on employers. Two the issue is deeper than you think, the government's job is to keep the economy flowing and prosperous. Adopting your plan would have the reverse effect on the economy. Then you will see a definite backlash As a result.

1. Not possible given our current law enforcement resources. It's been tried for decades. And we don't have the money or manpower to keep up.

2. Good idea, but not possible given our current law enforcement resources, given that it's too easy to hide things under th books, and the annual savings for most companies are usually much more than 20K per unauthorized worker.

3. Sure.

4. We cannot enforce the laws that already require this. See #1 and #2 above.

5. We cannot enforce the laws that already require this. See #1 and #2 above.

6. Not constitutionally valid. You would have to amend the constitution to change the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment.

7. Not possible given our current law enforcement resources. See #1 above.

8. Not constitutionally valid. And fascist to boot.

My solution is this:

Don't vacation in Mexico... because that only incourages Mexico to depend off tourism as their main income.

When you want your home remodeled, DON'T hire a company that bids the lowest go with a mid to higher bid, More than likely with the low bid you're going to be enabling the same thing you like to complain about... ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!!! You can also ask for creditials and ask to meet the crew that will be working on your home or office... IF they have 25 Mexicans that don't speak any english... A light should go off in your head to NOT hire this company...

When you go to a place and see nothing but Mexicans who speak english working there, REFUSE to shop there until the company hires people you can understand.

Winning this Issue will take ALL of our help.. NOT just the Politicians running for office. WE all need to take part in solving it. Because the government is NEVER going to fix it as long as we keep enabling it. Hiring them, buying from a company that employ's them, selling them product, approving loans, giving them free access to bank accounts without checking their status in this country. EVERYONE is Responsible for this problem..

Think to yourself for a minute, How many times have you seen a crew of Mexicans and said OH they're probably all Illegals, Yet you drive or walk on by like you can't do Anything. Well how is our government supposed to get rid of them if we just look the other way when we see them only to go home and complain about them to our families?

If you truly wanted the "market" and "supply and demand" to determine agricultural prices, then you'd allow employers to hire whoever they like. That's the only free market response.

Sign me up. I think its a real plan that shows we are trying to solve the problem and not just goofing around.

The responses so far to your post shows why we have the problem. Americans are really growing stupider and stupider as each day goes by.

Oh if only we had the money to do that.

I still like my idea to enslave the illegals and make them dig a giant barrier ditch along the border.

Remember they have no rights.
