Go with anything from the early Beatles.
("And I love Her", "Here There and Everywhere" etc. etc.)
I'm not nearly that old, and I could post 100s more.. but, let's cut to the chase and say it as it is -- nothing beats these songs, and many that came after (anything posted here) would be created from people that heard these songs, and just tried to re-do their character, charm and simple nature.
