I don't know why they would leave N.Z. to come here.

There are many in Calif. The only Maori I've met were in N.Z. save one here in Calif.

N.Z. is a lot like California was 50-60 years ago. I'd love to move to N.Z. but I'm an oldephart and not a millionaire, so I don't meet the requirements.

I'd bring my own gum boots...

I wouldn't be surprised to find a few Maori in Hawaii or Utah through some association with the LDS church, universities or the Polynesian Cultural Center. I've only met a couple Maori who were doing some kind of foreign exchange program in Southern California.

I've heard of individual Kiwis living in the Southwest and in Califorina; I don't know if that's a common trend or just a few individuals, though.
