i usually take it around 6 pm which normally would be right after dinner; however, my work hours have changed and now i have a hard time taking it at 6 pm every day. I'm about to start a new pack in a few days. Would that be a good time to start taking it at a different time. Say 9 pm?

Whatever time is right for you to make it easy for you to make it your new schedule to remember when to take your pill.
Asking strangers who don't know your daily schedule for a time of day that's right for you is like asking a car mechanic for a health diagnosis.

Okay, seeing your added details, no, a sudden shift in time will not change the effects of your pills. I, too, take the pill for health reasons. Because my schedule changes often, my pill taking times change a lot but the effects of the medication stays the same, just as long as it's done daily.

I changed my time on a new pack, but I was going 3 hours earlier instead of 3 hours later. Still, I think you'd be OK. If you're unsure, you can do it on hour incriments. 6:00 at first for a few days, 7:00 for a few days, 8:00 for a few days, then finally 9:00. I think you're OK starting with the first pill at 9:00, though. You'll have been on placebo for 7 days, 3 hours likely won't make a difference.

Yes, switching times when you start a new pack is a good idea. Since you're only pushing it back 3 hours, it shouldn't make a difference in your cycle. It's recommended you take it at the same time daily, within one hour (before or after). So just to be SURE, might be a good idea to use an additional for of protection for the next week.

Good luck!

You can start the new pack at whatever time is best for you. However, make sure to use a back-up method for at least a week, since it's pretty much like you're just starting the pill again and it will take time for your body to re-adjust it's self to the hormones.

Just make sure to take it at the same time every day, and you'll be fine.

I'm no expert, but if you changed the time to 9 pm for your next pack, I would use a backup method of birth control that month just to be safe.

I take mine at noon everyday - I keep my pills in my purse and have a reminder on my phone and my computer.
I find that noon is good because I'm awake for the next twelve hours to remember to take it if I forget it at noon, or leave them at home or something like that. If I take it within 12 hours then it's not a missed pill. Taking it at night means that if you forget it and go to sleep, your 12 hours is often up before you wake up and notice that you've missed it, then you have to use condoms for the next seven days etc.

You can start taking your pill earlier at any time in your cycle. Shifting later by anything less than 6 hours is fine to do at any time.

You have to take them at whatever time you know you can take them because they work better if you take them at the same time. When you swich times though make sure to use condoms for at least a few weeks perferably a month.
