does being fit make a difference?

It's always good to be fit but it won't make you grow faster, your body will grow at its own speed. It depends on your genetics, how tall your parents are or other family members. Boys often have a growth spurt in their teens, so try to be patient.

My oldest son had his spurt in middle school, and hasn't grown much since. He's 18 and about 5 ft. 11 in. My younger son is 13 and is about 5 ft. 6 in. and still growing. We have tall men on both sides of the family so I think he will be fairly tall. My husband is also about 5 ft. 11 in.

Hang in there!

Being fit is always a good thing. You still have some time left to increase some height. To benefit most from your age make sure you eat plenty of fruits a vegetables. Eat a balanced diet that also includes dairy, meat, and cereals. Drink plenty of water and have a good nights sleep. Also take part in active sports. All these will help you grow taller as you still are pretty young. However, you should know that there is not much we can do to grow taller after puberty. There are many products in the market today that claim to increase height of adults, but they are all scams without sufficient scientific evidence. Surgical options, though available, are EXTREMELY RISKY and of course expensive. This leaves us with basically two options.

1. Stretching Exercises: - These exercises will help you improve your posture. You’ll be surprised that how much of “Height” is hidden behind your slouched back. You can, at any age, add an inch or two of height by simply improving your posture. Follow the link below for information on specific height enhancing exercises:

2. Second, you can create a “Taller” effect by following some smart fashion techniques. You can easily add another inch or two of “illusionary height” by improving your dress coordination. The link below can provide some input on height increase through fashion effect:

Good luck

I was about that height at 14, maybe shorter, but now I am 5'9" at 15 and 10 months of age. Not much will make you grow taller, it's all in your genetics (you can look at how tall your parents are and ask them about how they grew at your age) but eating right, drinking nothing with caffeine in it, and getting some good exercise (don't over do it though, things like lifting weights that are too heavy can mess up your bones and tendons) can help your growth a lot. Thats what I did, and I shot up 5/6 inches in the space of a year or so.

yes there is

i was 5.5 at age 17

i naturaly grew to 5.9 when i was 18

i took hormone injections from a guy i knew to gain an inch
i also did stretching exersices to gain another inch
most people say the stretching exersices dont work cuz they give up too early or they never even tried
the problem is if u stop doing them ull lose the inch over time that u gained from doing them
also ur an inch taller if you sleep on your back instead of your stomach or side

dark clothes make you look taller too
try to make your top and bottom about the same color

im proud to say im 6 feet tall now and i hope this helps

Look at your parents and grand parents.

Most likely, if they are tall you will be tall, at 15 you could get a real growing spurt and be 6 feet tall.

If your relatives are small people, then there is nothing short of trying growth hormones.

If some relatives are small and others are tall then its a toss up. Being healthy can't hurt. Being sick or unhealthy can cause a person to be distorted in many ways. Being short is one of them.

Stay healthy and hope for the growing spurt.

Pretty sure it is all genetic...perhaps some early nutrition. Either way, not much you can do about it now. You should continue to grow until about 17 or 18, and you may just have a growth spurt where you shoot up several inches in a year, for several years. Anyway eat healthy, and stay fit!

Genetics play a big role in how tall your going to be. I doubt being fit will actually affect your growth but it dosent hurt to be fit. Your still young unless both of your parents are under like 5' then you probally screwed and probally won't get any taller.

i love these questions they make me laugh, Ok for the last time Shy of a VERY painful series of surgery's(which most doctors will only do for true Dwarves or Midgets) to break and extend your bones there is no way to get "taller" your 14 you still have 3 to 5 years to grow so relax you will be as tall as your suppose to be.

Lifting weights can stunt your growth, but overall being fit doesn't help much or hurt much.

You can't make yourself get taller but you can prevent yourself from stunting your growth. So make sure you get plenty of nutrition and plenty of sleep.

I'm 6"5 at age 17.
