Hey guys
I just bought a laptop off ebay
now when I try to connect to a network(anyone)
it connects and then it says
"little or no connectivity because the network did not assign a network adress to the computer"
by the way I am a college student so I travel aroun a lot(in other words I would like to solve this problem without buying a router

Do you have an ISP? How is it terminated now? How many pcs do you wish to operate from the terminus?

If you have a DSL or CATV (cable internet) feed it is terminated by a modem. You can plug 1 pc into the modem and use a wired connection. If you want to run more than 1 device you need a router. If you want to wirelessly connect you need a wireless access point or a wireless router.

Tell us what you have and what you are trying to do.

You cannot just turn on a pc and automatically have internet connection unless somewhere nearby there is a wireless broadcast.
