Do you not see your anti-semitism and the ties you have to Nazi Germany not the one you claim Republicans have. You want to defame a 4,000 year old religion whose members have been present in Canaan (currently the area of Gaza up to parts of Lebanon and Syria). Judiasm is a major influence on the religions of Christinanity and Islam. The British Mandate of Palestine that was adopted by the UN gives the Jewish people their homeland irrevocably. Your acting that Israel has done nothing for use forgets the Jewish resistance to the Nazis and the founders of the PLO the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem collaboration with the Nazis against the allies and their desire to create a final solution in the Middles East also. Palestinians were members of the Waffen SS. In all wars the losing states lose territory thus why should not the Palestinians? And Holocaust denyiers remember Soviets, Catholic Poles, Gypsies, Gays, Mentally Ill, and the disabled were also slaughtered in this.

Stiggo - We might disagree on a lot of issues now but I do defend your right to speak out on it becasue you know the problems with racism when it impacts either of our political parties. Thanks that we have some like you remaining on the left but I fear your party is being strapped in for a ride to the outer reaches of Leftism.

Londonmix- Definitly no problem with a Brit on this question. You gave som very relevant points. US is definitly no stranger to friendly fire - We killed some Canadian and British soldiers in Afganistan earlier in the War on terror. Friendly fire is very dangerous in such a confusing war theater - as we cand particulary see with the tragic Pat Tillman case that again we are looking at. I still can not accept the anti-semitism that I see in the answers we have on this question. Every county lobbies us for their own needs. Its just that with the crisis the Middle East is for the last 30 years of my life yes it will look like Israel gets alot. But lets just go back and review one era how much money did the US spend on Europe from 1940 to 1950 with the War and then the Marshall plan. It far outweights the amount give to Israel but I see none ot the outrage on this line that Italy or Germany got this money and in fact still owe us when Israel has paid back all our loans to it.

I think anyone on this question who has given such a hostile answer about Israel needs to go to a site in Eastern Europe where remnants of German atrocities can still be seen. I did that in 1990 while on a work related delegation to the Soviet Union. For me a german descendant to see and hear the slaughter and mayham caused by the Nazis in three Russian towns I was in made me sick to my stomach for days that mankind could ever do this. Then come back to DC and tour the Holocaust museum and see if you still have that burning sensation to always be opposed to Israel. I don't hear Jews bringing up the Holocaust all the time, I am because it is factual and it needs to be told again and again till denyers are forever put away. I am not Jewish but I know the tragedy that this event caused to all of us no matter our ethnicity. Plus I know the need to have a strong ally in the Middle East with its needed shipping lanes and the need for oil not just to us but all our allies.

Those are not the average, representative liberals. Those are the extreme nutjobs who also think 9/11 was an inside job and the Loch Ness Monster knows who shot Kennedy. They're small in number, but they're so loud and obnoxious, sometimes they're all you see. They give the rest of us a bad name.
BTW, I'm a proud liberal Zionist. I see no reason why we shouldn't support our only friend and the only full and free democracy in that vital region.

I think, at least I hope, that the recent expressions of anti-Semitism I've seen are just a few far left nutjobs. Some of the things I've seen on other websites are inexcusable, there has been deterioration into the oldest stereotypes and slanders. If you replaced "Jew" with the "n-word," liberals would be completely outraged. I'm disappointed that even the far left doesn't recognize and refute some of these comments.
Re: the term "anti-Semitism." This word was coined in 1879 by a German, Wilhelm Marr, because it sounded more acceptable than "Jew-hatred." The original use and definition applies only to Jews. People who point out that Arabs are also Semites are usually trying to shift the target and avoid the point of the discussion. If it makes them feel better, I'd be happy to call them Jew-haters.
Regarding AIPAC, it is a public affairs committee, not a political action committee. It is a lobby, it does NOT hand out money to politicians. It does encourage Americans to support their representatives, but it does *not* tell them who to contribute to or vote for. It is supported by Americans who want an effective pro-Israel lobby. AIPAC is not an Israeli lobby--it is an American pro-Israel lobby. As such it is no better nor worse than any other lobby with grass roots support: AARP, NRA, etc.

T-22. I know many Jewish people as I grew up in a predominantly Jewish part of London. I can honestly say that I have NEVER once heard a Jew even refer to the Holocaust - it always seems to be non Jews who bring it up! You've proved my point with your comments tonight!
As for your last remark, what a nasty thing to say. Why so much anger towards the Jewish people - what have they ever done to you? Perhaps you need a reminder that is isn't the Jews that are strapping bombs to themselves and hijacking planes and stoning women to death.
(Hope you guys don't mind a Brit wading in on this question! For what it's worth, I think that America is amazing for its' support of Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East.)
US LIBERTY: this was a case of 'friendly fire' - just as recently an American pilot mistakenly shot down and killed a plane with two British pilots inside. It's tragic when it happens, but it's also inevitable in any war.

Conspiracy Theorists are cross-pollenating.
In America, the prevelent 9/11 conspiracy theories are along the old 'blood for oil' lines of the last gulf war (only in the last gulf war, the conspirators wanted cheap oil, this time they want expensive oil).
In the Middle East, the prominent conspiracy theory is that the Mosad perpetrated 9/11 when thier balky puppet, the US, didn't do enough to oppress the Arabs and Muslims.
Perhaps through the internet, American Conspiracy Theorists have picked up on some of the anti-semitic elements of the Middle Eastern theories.

To be honest with you I'm absolutely sick of the whole damn Holocaust thing. Your right, several other ethnic groups and religions were persecuted just like the Jews but everytime you say Holocaust Jew comes right behind it. No I'm not anti-semitist, but it's identical to when colored people blame their race whenever a white person beats them out. White person wins the job over a black person and it's instantly racism. Did anybody ever think that maybe the white guy really was better for the job. It's the same thing. A couple of Jews die and everyone starts screaming "Holocaust". Well, how about screaming it when we start killing the retarded or the Catholics. Screw the Jews for blowing the whole thing out of proportion.

I have no issue with Jews. In fact I live in a predominately Jewish neighborhood. I admire and respect their strong values of family and community. They have always made me feel welcome AND I am proud to be part of their community.
I have a real issue with ISRAEL demanding our support, demanding money and taking such an active roll in our government. Due to the amount of money our "leaders" have accepted from Pacs such as AIPAC, Israelis have a larger voice in our congress then the American people. I do not fault Israel alone for this I fault our "leaders". It is the "link" regardless of fault that I despise.

Interesting note: Israel is the only country that doesn't owe us money. Each time we give them something, they get in a war, win, and pay us throught the spoils.

Why don't you look up the word "semite" in the dictionary and resubmit your question.
=Besides wasn't it Ariel Sharon who publically said something to the effect of "We own America"?
=Webster's Dictionary defines a Semite as a member of a group that includes both Jews and Arabs. So an anti-Semite would be someone who is against both races.

Because US aid to Israe is lopsided in comparison to aid to other nations. At this point, we might as well annex Israel and make it the 51st US state.
