Yes, you did it, you did the right research
5 inch of water is perfect for the simple reason that daddy has it easier to pick up the falling fry, don't let these answers irritate you
And no gravel is good too, because the male doesn't have to search as hard for his young

Very well done betta girl

And your betta looks healthy as well
As for the breed, I can give you a site where you can find out more

Hope that helps
Good luck

I would add a few places for the female to hide, just in case the male gets aggressive. It's also a good idea to put a styrofoam cup cut in half for the male to build his nest under. The female will be paralzed briefly afer mating but she will wake up within a few minutes. She needs to be taken out right after the mating is over with. Only the male betta raises the young. He can stay with the fry until they are free swimming.

Yes, that looks like an excellent breeding tank. I can't see the top of the tank, but I would say it's best to have that covered with something to prevent drafts across the surface of the water.

You are exactly right to have the water level low and no gravel.

Yes, you got a great setup only thing missing is the female. BTW, if you haven't start an infusoria culture, it is a good time to start one now, just enough time to have them ready when the fry are freeswimming.
GOOD LUCK!!
