Most current modems are v.92 standard; I suspect you can't buy any other today. Check out Radio Shack, Best Buy, Circuit City, and web stores like Tiger Direct, CDW, etc. Before you buy, see below:

The best you can do with v.92 and a good phone circuit is about 52 Kbps. If you are getting that now, you will not do better.

If your modem is less than 15 years old it is likely a v.92 so check it out before you buy another and find you did not need to do so.

Also, if your internal phone wiring is old and poor quality (e.g. corrosion around wire connections, worn insulation, etc) the signal will also be slower and a modem upgrade will not fix this either - a new internal wiring is in order in this instance. If you have static in your voice calls you are likely to need an internal rewiring.

Any dial-up 56k modem should be the v.92 standard. It came out in the late 90's. Check Wal-Mart, Target, CompUSA, or anywhere else that sells computer equipment.

Have you looked into Cable Internet?

I bought mine at circuit city a few years ago-also try newegg.com.
If you do get one make sre your isp supports it they also work well with call waiting or "modem on hold" which lets you answer your phone if on
