I am 17 years old, 5'6 148lbs, size 7/8, and I wear a 36DD, almost a DDD. I saw a plastic surgeon years ago about getting them reduced, and he said that he's seen other people with breasts bigger than mine, and that I didn't need it. I have back pain occasionally, and find it difficult to participate in sports. I even have difficulty sleeping comfortably. My nipples also hang very low, and I have yet to have kids. I do want to have kids eventually, but that might not be until my 30s, and I don't want to suffer for years with this problem. I really want a breast reduction, but it seems like you have to be over 30 and have DDD or above, and overweight to get a breast reduction. I'm comfortable with my bra size, I just wish my breast had shape to them, and didn't sag and get in the way. I'd like to be a full C or D though. I would really appreciate it if some people could give me some helpful answers. Thank you!

Talk to another PS. Doctors WILL reduce DDD breasts.

You should talk to more than just one PS, find someone who will understand your needs and will do a reduction with lift.

If you do just the lift, insurance will not cover it. If you do a reduction with lift, insurance should cover it because of your back pain.

I had my reduction with lift in Feb 2006 and went with my second PS I had a consult with.

I had the same problem at your age. I would wait for a few years, maybe until you're 25, to get a reduction. Not because you might change your mind, but your breasts might continue growing (Sorry, I know that's a downer). When I graduated high school (10 years ago), I wore a 32DD. I now wear a 40G. If I had gotten the breast reduction when I was 18, the C cups I wanted would probably be DD's again. I haven't changed my mind though, I'm just waiting until I'm done having kids.

Well, surgery is drastic, but I'm surprised that the doctor suggested that you don't get the reduction. My friend in high school had a reduction because she had back pain and just didn't want to live with breasts that large. If you feel it's something you should do, get a second opinion, and definitely don't go back to that other doctor. Most insurance companies will cover reductions if they'll improve your health (back pain). It's your decision. Don't let anyone else make it for you.

Get a reduction (usually a lift goes along with it) If you have back pain it's only going to get worse, and you have every right to want smaller breasts while you're still young. Talk to a different plastic surgeon.

Per insurance if your breast cause back and/or shoulder pain, or you have indentions in your shoulders from your bra straps this is a medical condition caused from the weight of large breast. A reduction is what you really want and the alignment comes free. Good Luck

I would get a reduction. They are uncomfortable at the size they are and they are hurting your back.

A lift wouldn't help any.

I would if I were you. It would be hard to play sports without people looking at you. I would go down to a full C.
