Burny, you have just asked the question I think all the time! It drives me even madder when I give a really good answer and then some w*anker below me copies my answer and then gets the 10 points! Arggghhhhhhh!!!

I've have that problem. But i soon realized that you have to understand how the person asking the question wants it answered. Sometimes people want some reassurance that their opinion is correct. Other times they searching for advise, and other times just simply the most creative one. If you need some advise, try checking my question that i put up a few days ago. I pretty much asked what people look for in an answer. Good luck. :)

A lot of times it is a friend answering a friends question. So that friend gives his friend 10 Pt's. A lot of times it ends up being whoever comes up with the funniest or wittiest answer. I can honestly say I have never chosen a stupid answer, but I have chosen a funny answer when its a funny question.

Hey, i recognize your avatar. That's Penelope Pitstop. (now I've dated myself)
As far as not getting a deserved best answer, I just hope they at least read it and found it helpful. I have probably recieved some best answer points that I really didn't have the best answer.

Yes. It's like I'm the only one who puts any thought (and time) into answering, and somebody else gets the points!

OH MY GOSH!!! it's Penelope Pitstop!!!!
(The girl of my childhood dreams!)
Now the serious bit.
Yes, it's quite annoying, isn't it!!
You spend all that time thinking about it, or researching it, (and then in my case, taking years to type it,) and then you submit it just to find a better answer.
Sometimes a bit heartbreaking!!!

Yea, I had one the other day:
Someone asked "What's the stupidest thing you've ever done when you were drunk?"
I answered in a very delightful tale, that involved me striping at a party, taking shots of whisky, and puking in someone's storage bin of DVD's..and they chose the person that said, "Actually, getting drunk is the stupidest thing you can do."
!!!!!!!!
Not fair.

Absolutely not. this is a popularity contest, and when you have the first answer, odds are you'll get the BA, because no one wants to scroll through a large number of answers.

No, because at times the 'best' answer is chosen because that is what a person wants to hear as opposed to what is the truth.
