However vile Nixon was, and he was plenty vile, there are some foreign policy successes for which he is remembered, the most notable being his efforts to improve relations with China. In contrast, Bush's administration has been a disaster both domestically (his ignoring the Constitution, his pathological secrecy, his tax cuts for the rich on the backs of the middle class, his various infringements on individual liberties) and in terms of foreign policy (his squandering of the world's goodwill after 9/11, his policy of unilateralism, and the Iraq war). Bush is already lower than Nixon and racing fast for the bottom.

I would take Nixon over W., at least Nixon was competent. Sure Nixon was a crook and a nasty guy, but he got us out of Vietnam. W. will never get our troops out of Iraq.

If it is a Bush-Kerry race or a Bush-Gore race I still vote for Bush. If it was a Nixon-McGovern race I would still vote for Nixon. In order to get me to vote for a dem they need to get off their "government must do everything" and their "let's never win another War" kicks.

Nixon was a very liberal republican , he increased the welfare state that Johnson put in place , bush is a very Conservative pres , your analogy couldn't be more wrong
