If your grass is like our grass, it's suffering from the drought. Fertilizer is not a good idea on dry burned out grass, it will only burn it out worse. Try watering it every day, first thing in the morning. Not at night, that will cause mold. If your water bill is too high, try not to worry about the grass, it will eventually grow back as soon as we get some rain.

It's fine. It's just dormant.
No amount of watering is going to bring it back out of dormancy now. It's experiencing drought.
Say hello to it again in April of 2008. Nothing you do to it will green it back up, but *modest* amounts of fertilizer can help it overwinter. In the fall, when it gets cooler and maybe moister, the root system will benefit from fall fertilizer. In the meantime, leave it alone now. You're not going to be able to help it, and trying to do treatments on it now in the heat of summer will most likely just do damage. Wait until the fall.
