Yes. Don't worry about passing associations (Bobbit). It's a pretty name, and traditional in some parts of the world. The main question is whether you like it.

We considered several factors when naming our kids:
(1) Does the name ring well with the last name?
(2) Is there a convenient shortening (Rena, Lori, etc.)?
(3) Are there any obvious, juvenile, offensive taunts from other shortenings?
(4) Just in case, will the middle name(s) serve as an alternative appelation?

no, Lorena is not great for a kid unless she's going to be very pretty- it could work against her.

It's my friends sister's middle name and she prefers it to her first name which is Claudia. I think it's cool.
