Personally I think so, to an extent. Reading what kind of answers they provide to questions will give you a rough idea of how their brain works. Wether they're knowledgeable, clever, shy, stupid, or funny. It doesn't always give you a good idea on who the person actually is as this could be only one side to them. Reading about what kind of questions people ask would give you a good guess on what they're into, psychology, jokes, general health and so on and so forth. If you look at the way some people strucure their answers will give you knowledge on if they've been well-educated or not. This is all mental ability, and to be honest you'll never really know the person until you get to knowthem. You could always form a rough idea of them though.
I'm a good example, I'm not very intelligent or atleast I don't think so. (I thought Lapland was in Wales) But I like to contribute to other people's questions, try and help them the best way that I can. Not sure how I come across over here but I am different irl.
Hope this helps x

Definitely. I can always tell if the questions are legitimate or if they are put there to get a rise. As for the answers, some are very helpful and thoughtful, while others can be useless, insulting, or both. I think there's a definite relationship between the queries and responses, and the personalities of the askers and the responders. It would therefore, be incumbent upon Yahoo to screen all material that is entered here, and not depend on the contributors to report abuse. I realize how time consuming that would be, but it would eliminate the negativity that is rampant on here.

I tend not to believe so. People react differently online than offline. They could also act vastly different in a Q&A session like this online than in a Q&A session offline. People have very inconsistent personalities across different situations. It is really impossible to tell much about someone just by reading their questions and answers because you are only reading a paragraph or two. A person could take up a whole book and then some writing about themselves.

When people answer they give little snippets of information aways, assuming what they say is true then yes, you can build a picture of what they are like.
Some people you can tell are open and funny, others often say stuff to get reactions and not so sincere.
It is possible to get "an idea" of the character of a person.
Nice question bingowings.

No. Because online as with texting and emailing and regular mailing, there is no other context. As Well you can be whatever you want to be online. On one answer i can be incredably annoyed, hostile even. while on another i am simply trying to be helpful. And if i wanted i could say all sorts of things that arent true and think nothing of it since i wont ever have to look you in the eye and deal with unsaid communication.

Sometimes I think so to a certain extent, yes
You can tell if someone's got a good sense of humour or if someone's got issues or is aggressive for example
Good question

yea, to a certain extent, but you can never learn the things you would from talking to someone and actaully knowing someone...the stuff you learn from what they say is pretty general and isnt something that only they have which is what you would get from becoming close to the person
