my family is from Louisiana and when people ask what they are because we vary from different looks meaning we look like the united kingdom or something ha ha ha!! I know I'm mixed, but I prefer to say creole. I'm proud of my heritage and I know where it came from. I'm just upset because a guy from cali insulted my intelligence basically stating that Iam stupid because he doesn't think creole is a race. I on the other hand know it is especially if you are from the south. when I try to explain to him what creole is (Spanish, Black, Indian and French decent) he told me I was just black with light skin and "good" hair what ever that means! and that I was trying to make more out of it. this really pissed me of because Iam proud of all my counterparts but if you look at history, the dictionary or google the word"CREOLE" it gives you the meaning and source behind it, so therefore should be part of the race category what do you all think?

Creole is NOT only a culture. It's a term for a mixture of certain races. Those races being French and African with some Native American influence. So you were right to say you were Creole when he asked you what race you are. You could say.... well I'm a mixture of French, and African American, or you could say I'm Creole. You're not stupid. He is, for judging people and not knowing what he is talking about.

I agree, but the problem is that it is only unique to Louisiana and not widely known, therfore not known as a race. I've been to Slidel and have some step family there, so I am familiar with people who are Creole.

Creole is not a race, but that man is stupid for what he said(he seriously doesn't know anything). Creole is a mixture of races, but they are mostly black so in a way you are black with some mixtures.

There is no race biologically. Race is primarily a Western thought. Your ethnicity could be creole though, but by US standards you would be considered Black.

i thought creole was an ethnicity, it means "of the colony" in french, so basically its just youre family was a group of colonists that settled here (as in la, my familys from there too) during the french colonial period- btw- whoever told you that and made fun of your heritage is stupid and ignorant and needs to get an encyclopedia before he goes talking about something he doesnt know
