Plainly, if kids are all achieving seven or eight O level passes at A**** and 50% of then go on to University (where they all pass), TV programms such as Horizon must be getting HARDER !

Too true, but it's the same with all documentaries nowadays. They last an hour yet contain information which could be conveyed to anyone with an iota of intelligence in under five minutes.
Most of them are filled with music samples of some variety played over a completely random piece of footage while the narrator slowly recounts a dumbed down version of whatever information was supplied in the last clip.
Or that's how they appear to me anyway, not like when I was younger. (Which was not all that long ago may I point out :o))

I think it may be a combination of both. I remember Oxford Street seeming to be miles and miles long as a kid and now the walk is nothing.
It's not necessary a bad thing. It means that scientific knowledge is more accessible to the masses and stimulates more interest for people to venture into this often neglected field for fearing that it is "too difficult". It is very difficult to express science in simple terms without losing the overall concept and is often a complaint that patients have with their doctors.

yes it has.it used to be the most fascinating ,interesting program ever.those 50 minutes went fast,plus no adverts to spoil it.now its tommy rot .maybe 1 in 5 being of average interest.
