Not at all. Just make sure you check the laws in your state about in home child care. Also be sure to chat with someone you may know who has in home day care, and get their prospective on it. There may even be grant to help you get supplies you'll need to start and state funding available if you qualify.

If it's something that you and your friend have wanted to do for years and go through the proper training and possibly get a license it sounds like a good idea.. I'm a SAHM and I've been trying to "watch" or provide care for a couple chidren along with my own and I'm having problems finding children... I have a decent home w/ a family/playroom a gigantic fenced in yard as well as Lifesaver First-aid, meds and CPR training.. I can't find anyone that wants to pay me more than $2.. per hour. My time is as precious as anyone else's even though I do not work outside the home So, for me it's more of a hassle... However, if you can find the right parents/children it can be a fun and great thing to do.. I would say get certified and go from there.... good luck

Make sure you look into liability insurance. It can be very expensive, which really will cut into profit margin, but it is neccesary to have in case something does happen. Also be aware that even with insurance, you can still be sued. I am really not trying to be a downer, I think someone who loves kids that much is great, but you need to realistically look at the financial and liability side of it before you jump in. Even the best person in the world can be accused of some awful things, and with the litiguous society that we live in, lawsuits can be won without too much evidence. If you decide to do it, I wish you the best of luck.

No it is not a bad idea, just as long as you have all the plans written and set out. There are certain qualifications and routines you have to go through so check those out. I say follow your dreams. Have a blast with the kids!!!
