This notion was actually brought up by a liberal local radio personality when trying to have a discussion with his more moderate co-host. The one guy was trying to explain something the city was doing, which seemed to be perfectly sensible and was met with very little opposition, but the lib could just not get it. He told the other guy he couldn't even hear words, just like the teacher on Peanuts. I just wondered if a lot more libs had this unfortunate affliction as well. Also, when you read, do you just see little scatches like Woodstock made? That sure would explain a lot of things.

Wow, he actually said that he couldn't hear the other guy's words? What a closed-minded person. Scary. I hope that this is not true for most liberals or conservatives when faced with an opposing viewpoint. Being open-minded and respectful of others opinions makes debate much more fun.

NO
I listen to everything, consider it, get bashed for being stupid for not having an immediate answer, while i research the facts and find the real truth of every situation.
There are several truths of every situation, and I consider the moral aspects, the functional aspects, the economic aspects, and cultural.
If a political decision doesn't at least look good viewed by at least three of the four above factors, it may not be a good idea.
I value the ideas of all of my friends, conservative or liberal, because all of them sound good in theory, and even look good on paper, but ultimately will not work properly in real life.

People on BOTH sides of the political spectrum have that problem. If person A doesn't agree with person B, then person B refuses to listen to anything person A is saying, even if it is the truth.

why the liberal bashing? if anything conservatives dont listen, they can have plain old facts right in their face, and they choose just not to listen, that is unless you make a nice contribution to their party. America's policys have been sold by congress and presidents for way too long. I can only hope one day EVERYONE will listen.

The mindset of a partisan hack:

"I hear, I see, I speak no evil." ("Evil" meaning anything that does not fit in with their narrow-minded agenda.)

Serious inferiority complex is one factor in play when people resort to personal insult.
