Last night I got a call at two in the morning (luckily for me, I haven't been able to sleep anyhow so I wasn't actually asleep, just trying to). I let the phone ring twice, then got up and said "Hello." To cut the story short, the lady on the other end was claiming to be from the Crayola company, I told her It's two in the morning, what gets me here is that instead of hearing "Oh, sorry *click*" she told me it was 10 in the morning where she was, and tried to survey me, she asked my favourite colour, I had to ask what she said four times (to make it worse she mumbled everything she said) and I eventually said "black," she tried to ask another question - by this point I was obviously, and noticeably pissed off - I responded with "I'm not playing this (expletive) game anymore, It's two in the (expletive) morning" and I hung up.

My question to you, how do you deal with people who call you long after reasonable hours?

To people saying get a caller ID - I have one, I was kind-of in the mood to screw with the person on the other end.

Usually, I get as rude as possible. For exmple, a telemarketer called my cell phone once in the wee hours of the morning and kept pronouncing my name wrong (my name is Kristin, he kept saying Christine). And as if the time and my name wasn't enough to tick me off, when I asked how he got my number, he refused to tell me! He started with his sales pitch and I interupted saying I wasn't interested. He said "aww, come on now, Christine!". I'd had it. I said "look, you can't even get my [beeping] name right. How the [beep] do you figure I'll actually buy something from you? Take my name off of you [beeping] calling list and don't ever call my [beeping] number again. If you do, I'll have you [beeping] fired" *CLICK*

I'd try to just let it shut up but I would then get so pissed off that I'd throw it out the window.

well, for a call like yours I would tell her some thing bad and hang the phone up, but for interesting calls I would be a little upset but talk

#1 get on the Do not call registry (assuming you're in trhe US) - you can register on line. Get caller ID. Don't answer unless it's someone you know.

Don't bother getting mad or trying to mess with them - they don't give a sh*t.

You hang up on them immediately, but better yet, turn off your phone when you lay down.
