You're never too young/old for birthday candles. :)

I think the older people get, the more fun it is to put individual candles on a birthday cake. That way it makes them feel old when the cake practically burns down. lol. But otherwise, I usually just use the numbered candles for all ages...that's cuz I'm lazy now.

It's still fun to try and fit 50 candles on a cake, but not every year. I think after about 24 (the amount that comes in a candle package) it's good just to put a few, or some with the numbers spelled out.

Oh... at least 100 years of age. I figure if we made it to the big 100 then, we have earned the right to start counting backwards. Why stop putting candles on the cake? After 80 each candle becomes very significant. Another year on the upside of the lawn, significant. Phew! We deserve every candle, don't be puttin' ideas into people's heads now, birthday pooper.

We usually just use those number candles. However, that's only if the birthday person doesn't mind. When my Mom turned 70, she didn't want THAT number on her cake, so we just put a musical Happy Birthday To You candle in the middle of the cake and sang along. Whatever makes the person happy! It's their day, so I guess it's their say.

The more candles the better. I say until it gets so crowded on the cake, that the candles are impossible to light safely. ^^

I think when you have enough candles lit on the cake to make someone want to reach for a fire extinguisher, then that is when you need to stop. But, then for those who live on the edge, light em up, watch em burn, and eat waxy cake! Enjoy!
